It's not the search for the Holy Grail, but it feels about as fruitless. For decades, I have been looking for the perfect mascara -- that magic wand that will transform my lashes into long, lush attention-getters.
I've tried cheap brands (Wet 'n Wild, anyone?) and expensive ones (Chanel). I've tried mascaras that get rave reviews from all quarters (Maybelline's iconic Great Lash) and ones that are touted by beauty insiders. I've sampled products that promise to thicken and lengthen, wands that vibrate and formulas that coat your lashes in little tubes.
Mostly I end up disappointed. At best, my lashes are longer and darker, but hardly extraordinary. At worst, they have that clumpy, tarantula-leg look that has me separating them with a safety pin (please, no cautionary tales).
Lately, I've been liking Lancome's Definicils High Definition Mascara. Paired with Lancome's Cil Booster, the results are pretty impressive. Still, this feels like a friendship, and I want to fall in love. I'd welcome any attempts at matchmaking (share your suggestions in the comment field below). Until then, I guess I'll just keep looking.
